German automaker BMW will launch a blockchain-based loyalty program, in partnership with Coinweb and BNB Chain.

German automaker BMW plans to integrate blockchain technology into its operations, as well as create a blockchain-based loyalty program for its customers in Thailand. To this end, BMW will collaborate with the blockchain infrastructure company Coinweb, which will provide the necessary decentralized architecture, and BNB Chain, which will instead take care of managing the transactions.

The integration of the blockchain into BMW’s workflow will take place in two phases. Initially the technology will be introduced into BMW’s day-to-day operations, with the aim of automating and speeding up time-consuming processes that are now performed manually.

In the second phase of the project, Coinweb will develop a Web3 application for BMW’s customer loyalty program. The program will use a rewards system to incentivize BMW Group customers; a customer’s level and status in the ecosystem will be determined by the loyalty points they acquire.

These points can be used to purchase goods and services from BMW, and in the future also from other connected ecosystems. Transactions will be settled by BNB Chain.

Toby Gilbert, CEO of Coinweb, explained to Cointelegraph that customers will be rewarded every time they connect with the BMW ecosystem, whether it is to “buy a new car or request a service”.
