On Jan. 4, CryptoNovo, a non-fungible token (NFT) influencer, announced that it was the victim of a cyber-attack and lost two CryptoPunks. On Twitter he wrote: “I just got hacked!!! Are you kidding me?!” and included a screenshot from OpenSea showing two CryptoPunks transferred to another address.

The two CryptoPunks were immediately sold, one for 70 Ether (ETH) (worth $88,434 at the time of publication) and the other for 199 ETH (worth $251,404). This means that CryptoNovo lost over $300,000 in CryptoPunks during the attack.

Apparently, a number of other non-fungible tokens were also stolen from the influencer, including Meebits, CloneX, Mutant Ape Yacht Club, and Bored Ape Yacht Club. CryptoNovo’s iconic Green Punk, #3706, appears to have survived the attack, although the owner appears to have sold the item.

While previous NFTs were sent to an already known phishing address, CryptoPunk #3706 was sent to a completely different address and sold for 75 ETH (a $94,751 value). This address has also received items from Thenovoverse.eth, an ENS domain that has received items from the official CryptoNovo wallet address in the past. These facts could suggest that the sale of this particular object was made by the owner and not by the attacker.
